Onui Dam / Lake Ryuhime / Inoyama Observatory / Takiyama Gorge Bridge / Takiyama River
Onui Dam is a dam constructed on the Takiyama River in the Ota River system of a first-class river in Aki-Ota Town, Yamagata County, Hiroshima Prefecture. At 156 meters, it is the second tallest arch dam in Japan.
The Onui Dam releases water around spring every year, and many tourists come to enjoy the powerful scenery. The man-made lake formed by the Onui Dam is called Lake Tatsuhime, and has been selected as one of the 100 best dammed lakes. The name comes from an old folk tale in the local Onui area, "The Great Snake of Enobuchi. The area around Lake Tatsuhime is full of resort hotels and glamping facilities. |
